The United Nations recently organised their annual "Learning Managers Forum" from the 14th to 16th June 2017, which was held at the United Nations Systems Staff College in Bonn, Germany. The forum attracted twenty seven participating agencies including:
UNICEF: United Nations Childrens Fund
UNESCO: United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organisation
WHO: World Health Organisation
UNDSS: United Nations Department of Safety and Security
UNODC:United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime
UNAIDS: Joint United Naitons Programme on HIV/AIDS
UNOG: United Nations Office in Geneva
This annual gathering brings together all those responsible for learning, training and staff development in United Nations agencies, funds and programmes as well as other international organisations.
As three days in a formal conference environment can be very taxing on the brain and body, Haute Pursuit were asked to design and deliver a bespoke GPS game to reinforce key information that had been delivered in the "Learning Managers Forum". We used the GPS product as a platform for all participants to explore the city of Bonn, and to have some fun and stretch their legs and brains after three very intensive days. Although the game was definitely fun for all it incorporated key information from the forum on the following:
- Global population goals
- Poverty and displacement
- The Kyoto Protocol
- Global emissions of carbon dioxide
- Global corruption, bribery, theft and tax evasion
- Global food waste
- Gender parity
The game started at the UNSSC facility in Bonn and all the participants got to spend the afternoon in groups where they didn't necessarily know one another. The game took in some of the tourist highlights of Bonn a city best known as the birthplace of Beethoven. The group then finished on a boat on the Rhine river. Final scores and a game photo / video slideshow were then presented.
