Wine Tasting in Chamonix with Haute Pursuit, the Beaujolais Nouveau has arrived!

At the stroke of midnight, the first of 50 million bottles of Beaujolais began their journey from the towns and villages of the Beaujolais Region, in the traditional race to get the first bottles to different markets around the world.

Today is extra special as it is the wine’s 60th Birthday.  Beaujolais Nouveau is a purple-pink wine reflecting its youth.  It is bottled just 6-8 weeks following harvest and intended for immediate drinking.  As such it is eagerly awaited as the first indicator of the quality of the year’s regional wine harvest, and 2011 has all the hallmarks of being a vintage year.

3 Key Facts about Beaujolais Nouveau:

• Beaujolais Nouveau is always released on the third Thursday of November regardless of when the harvest began.

•  All the grapes in Beaujolais must be hand-picked.  A tradition shared only with the vineyards of Champagne.

• Although Beaujolais Nouveau is a red wine, it is best served slightly chilled at 55 degrees Fahrenheit, allowing its refreshing fruity flavour to be more apparent.

At Haute Pursuit we will be raising a glass this evening to celebrate Beaujolais Nouveau with Cha Cha Cha, who we work in partnership with to deliver wine tasting evenings for our clients in Chamonix.

Corporate groups and wedding trip guests can spend a relaxed and informal evening sampling some of the finest wines from France and Italy whilst learning more about them and their origins.

We can arrange for you to do this in the privacy and comfort of your own accommodation, or with any of our partners in Alpine resorts throughout France, and Italy.  In conjunction we can build gastronomic and fine dining itineraries to suit all budgets and desired.
